Our services include:
Cavity fillings
Cavities are a common tooth ailment and source of pain. Emergency Dental Care USA begins by removing the decayed material, cleans out the cavity then adds a filling material.
Crowns and Bridge Repairs
Crowns are fixed ‘caps’ or covers over a damaged tooth. Occasionally, crowns become loose or fall out. Emergency Dental Care USA can apply new adhesive to securely fasten the crown back to your tooth. Similarly, we can reattach and strengthen bridges used to fill gaps between missing teeth.
Common extractions
Our doctors will go to great lengths to repair a decayed or fractured tooth by means of filling, crown or other treatment. However, if it appears that none of these methods will work, it may be best to remove the damaged tooth. A common or simple extraction at Emergency Dental Care USA is performed on a tooth that is visible in the mouth, often done using a local anesthetic with the doctor loosening and removing the damaged tooth.
Surgical extractions
In cases where the tooth cannot be easily seen in the mouth a surgical extraction may be necessary—especially where the tooth has broken off at the gum line. Emergency Dental Care USA can perform surgical extractions with either a local anesthesia or with conscious sedation. Children are likely to be operated on using a general anesthesia.
Wisdom tooth extractions
For many people, their wisdom teeth never fully enter the mouth. They may become tilted under the gum, blocked from coming in by bone and other teeth. These would be called “impacted teeth”. Or, part of the tooth may remain covered by the gum where food particles and bacteria become trapped causing a mild irritation, swelling and low-grade infection called “periconoritis”. While you may not feel any pain at first, by the time you’re experiencing real discomfort in the back of your jaw, there probably will already be substantial decay or infection with your wisdom teeth.
If continued unattended, more serious complications can occur, including the development of a cyst that can cause permanent damage to the bone and nerves. Emergency Dental Care USA can provide a thorough examination to determine if the wisdom teeth can be treated or need to be removed. Our doctors can perform this extraction surgery and provide you with the necessary medications and follow up for full recovery.
Root canals
An infected or inflamed tooth root canal causes a very sharp, constant pain. Fortunately, an Emergency Dental Care USA doctor can both alleviate the pain and treat the “root” of the problem. The tooth will be anesthetized for the doctor to drill out an opening in the crown to go in and clean out unhealthy pulp from the root canals. The canals are then filled with a permanent material to keep it free from contamination and future infection. A temporary material seals the tooth opening until a crown or cap similar to the natural tooth is placed on top.
Broken or knocked out teeth
While most teeth are remarkably strong, they are susceptible to chipping, cracking or breaking from a traumatic hit or by biting down on something too hard. When a large piece of the tooth breaks off or suffers from a large crack, it may exposure an inside nerve which can become extremely uncomfortable especially when exposed to hot or cold foods and drinks. Take that pain as a warning to have the problem examined and fixed as soon as possible before further tooth damage takes place. Emergency Dental Care USA Teeth can polish, file or fill in many minor cracks and breaks. It’s important to try and save and broken off pieces of a tooth as our doctor may be able cement the tooth back together as a temporary measure.
If the worst happens and a tooth is knocked loose or comes out, seek emergency dental treatment immediately. Be careful not to touch the root. If the tooth is contaminated, rinse it gently with clean saline or water. Get to the dentist within 30 minutes as there is a much better chance of saving that tooth.
Periodontal cleanings
Also known as “gum disease”, periodontal diseases result from a heavy build up of plaque and tarter, which eventually cause inflammation of the gums. In a mild form called “gingivitis” the gums become swollen, red and bleed easily resulting in painful chewing and bad breath. In advanced form, untreated gums suffer from "periodontitis" as the gums become so inflamed they pull away from the teeth to allow “pockets” that become infected causing pain and deterioration the bones, gums and connective tissue. It’s a serious matter that eventually may lead to removing destroyed teeth.
Inflamed gums suffering from periodontal diseases require professional cleaning to control and eliminate the infection. A key periodontal cleaning procedure at Emergency Dental Care USA is “scaling” or “root planning” which involves a deep cleaning and scraping of tarter from above and below the gum line. Some rinsing and oral medications may also be used to control the growth of bacteria.
Periodontal surgery
If gum inflammation and deep infected pockets remain after periodontal cleanings Emergency Dental Care USA may pursue surgical procedures to remove the pain and save your teeth. “Flap” surgery involves lifting the gums to remove tartar deposits in deep making it easier for the patient and dentist to keep the area clean. The doctor may recommend bone or tissue grafts to replace and encourage new growth of bone or gum tissue destroyed by periodontitis.
Burning or sore gums
The diverse symptoms of burning mouth syndrome include burning sensations on your tongue, lips, gums, palate, throat or other areas of your mouth as well as a dry, sore or numbed feeling or a bitter, metallic taste in your mouth. This disorder known as Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) is associated with many causes, usually highly individual. Emergency Dental Care USA will perform a complete examination with a number of tests to determine your particular cause of burning mouth and how to best treat it. Note that Burning Mouth Syndrome affects women seven times more often than men.
Swollen jaw
Swollen jaw can be a symptom of a wide variety of problems which include inflammation from a cavity, infected root canal, diseased gums, impacted wisdom teeth, a sore in the mouth, bitten lip, or even a broken jaw. The only way to accurately diagnose the cause is to have a methodical assessment of your mouth, gums and teeth. Emergency Dental Care USA doctors are trained to review your symptoms while conducting a complete exam of your mouth to precisely determine the source of your swollen mouth. Procedures can then begin to treat and remove the problem and ease your swollen jaw.
